The Rotomoulding Process in Detail

1. Mold prep work.

2. The heat and fusion procedure.
Once inside the oven, the mold is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and coats the inside if the mold. The rotation is done slowly and gradually, about 20 revolutions per minute. One thing that is vital at this moment is the period of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the component will lose stability and strength, producing a faulty product. If it is taken out from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have melted properly, which produces bubbles in the finalized item.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the component has completely spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the material cools, it reduces somewhat for ease of extraction from the mold. This is one more procedure that depends upon a lot on the ideal timing, since quick cooling reduces the material too fast, causing warping of the item.

4. The removing or de-moulding step.
As soon as the component within te mould has cooled effectively, the molder taking care of the procedure can then take out the completed item from the mould. The function is repeated from the start, making a series of exact items.
