1. Mould preparation.
A predetermined amount of polymer in grain form is loaded into a hollow mould. The mould is usually made from cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. The color needed for the end product is pre compounded into the polymer. The most generally used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this style of plastic production.

Preheating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then sealed and inserted into the oven.

2. The heating up and fusion step.
Once inside the oven, the mold is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and coats the inside if the mold. The turning is done gradually, about 20 spins per min. The main thing that is important at this moment is the period of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it overstays, the component will lose stability and durability, generating a weak item. If it is removed from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have liquefied correctly, which generates bubbles in the completed product line.

3. Mould cooling.
When the product has sufficiently spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the product cools, it reduces a little for ease of extraction from the mold. This is another procedure that depends upon a lot on the correct timing, since rapid cooling decreases the material too quickly, causing warping of the material.

4. The offloading or de-molding step.
Once the component within te mold has cooled successfully, the person handling the process can then take out the completed item from the mould. The function is repeated from the start, giving a number of identical product lines.
