The Rotomoulding Procedure Components

1. Mould preparation.

2. The heating up and fusion phase.
Once inside the oven, the mold is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and overlays the inside if the mold. The rotation is done slowly, about 20 spins per minute. One thing that is crucial at this point is the amount of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it overstays, the product will lose stability and durability, making a weak item. If it is removed from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have liquefied correctly, which generates bubbles in the finalized item.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the material has sufficiently spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the component cools, it shrinks slightly for ease of removal from the mold. This is an additional step that depends a lot on the correct timing, since quick cooling shrinks the material too quick, causing bending of the product.

4. The unloading or de-molding phase.
When the material inside te mould has cooled successfully, the person taking care of the process can then take out the finalized product from the mold. The process is repeated from the beginning, supplying a number of identical product lines.
