The Rotomoulding Method in Detail

1. Mold prep work.
A fixed volume of polymer in powder form is loaded into a hollow mold. The mold is usually comprised of cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. 2. The heating and fusion step.

The main thing that is vital at this point is the amount of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the material will lose stability and strength, creating a faulty item. If it is taken out from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have liquefied properly, which generates bubbles in the finished item.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the component has completely spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the product cools, it reduces somewhat for ease of extraction from the mould. This is an additional procedure that depends a lot on the ideal timing, since quick cooling reduces the material too rapidly, causing warping of the material.

4. The unloading or de-molding phase.
As soon as the product inside te mold has cooled adequately, the molder taking care of the operation can then take out the finalized product from the mold. The process is repeated from the start, making a number of similar products.
