The Rotomolding Process Components

1. Mould preparation.

2. The heat and fusion step.
Once within the oven, the mold is spun on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mould. The spinning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 revolutions per sixty seconds. One thing that is vital at this moment is the amount of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the material will lose stability and strength, producing a poor product. If it is removed from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have liquefied correctly, which creates bubbles in the completed product line.

3. Mold cooling.
When the product has sufficiently spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the product cools, it reduces a little for ease of removal from the mold. This is one more procedure that depends upon a lot on the right timing, since rapid cooling shrinks the material too quickly, causing warping of the product.

4. The offloading or de-molding phase.
Once the product within te mould has cooled properly, the person taking care of the process can then extract the finished product from the mould. The technique is repeated from the beginning, giving a number of identical product lines.
