The Rotomoulding Process Components

1. Mould prep work.

2. The heating up and fusion process.
Once inside the oven, the mould is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mould. The spinning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 spins per minute. Something that is vital at this moment is the amount of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the material will lose stability and strength, generating a faulty item. If it is extracted from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have liquefied properly, which creates bubbles in the finished product.

3. Mould cooling.
When the product has completely spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the material cools, it shrinks a little for ease of extraction from the mold. This is one more measure that depends a lot on the correct timing, since quick cooling reduces the material too quick, causing bending of the product.

4. The discharging or de-molding phase.
As soon as the material within te mold has cooled correctly, the person taking care of the operation can then remove the completed product from the mold. The technique is repeated from the beginning, providing a number of exact items.
