1. Mould prep work.
A predetermined amount of polymer in grain form is loaded into a hollow mould. The mould is usually made of cast aluminium or sheet steel component. Preheating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then locked and installed into the oven.

2. The heating up and fusion process.
Once within the oven, the mould is spun on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mold. The rotation is done slowly and gradually, about 20 spins per minute. One thing that is vital at this moment is the period of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it overstays, the material will lose stability and durability, making a poor item. If it is extracted from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have liquefied correctly, which produces bubbles in the finished item.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the product has sufficiently spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the component cools, it shrinks a little for ease of extraction from the mould. This is yet another procedure that depends upon a lot on the right timing, since rapid cooling reduces the material too quick, causing bending of the product.

4. The discharging or de-moulding step.
Once the component within te mould has cooled correctly, the molder managing the process can then remove the completed item from the mold. The technique is repeated from the beginning, supplying a number of exact products.
