1. Mold fitting.
A fixed amount of polymer in grain form is filled into a hollow mold. The mould is usually made from cast aluminium or sheet steel component. Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then secured and installed within the oven.

2. The heating and fusion procedure.
Once inside the oven, the mould is spun on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mould. The turning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 revolutions per min. Something that is important at this point is the period of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the component will lose stability and strength, producing a faulty product. If it is extracted from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted correctly, which creates bubbles in the completed product line.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the material has completely spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the product cools, it shrinks a little for ease of extraction from the mold. This is an additional measure that depends upon a lot on the correct timing, since quick cooling reduces the material too quick, causing bending of the item.

4. The un-loading or de-moulding phase.
As soon as the material inside te mould has cooled correctly, the molder taking care of the process can then take out the completed product from the mould. The technique is repeated from the beginning, supplying a series of identical items.
