The Rotomolding Process Components

1. Mold preparation.

2. The heating up and fusion step.
Once inside the oven, the mold is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and layers the inside if the mold. The turning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 rotations per sixty seconds. The main thing that is critical at this point is the period of time the mold will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the material will lose stability and strength, making a faulty item. If it is removed from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted properly, which creates bubbles in the finished product.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the material has sufficiently spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the component cools, it reduces slightly for ease of removal from the mould. This is one more measure that depends upon a lot on the correct timing, since quick cooling decreases the material too rapidly, causing warping of the item.

4. The un-loading or de-molding phase.
As soon as the product within te mold has cooled effectively, the person handling the operation can then remove the finished item from the mould. The process is repeated from the beginning, giving a series of similar product lines.
