The Roto-Molding Procedure Components

1. Mold preparation.
A predetermined measure of polymer in particle form is filled into a hollow mold. The mould is usually composeded of cast aluminium or sheet steel component. The coloration preferred for the final product is pre compounded into the polymer. The most often used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this style of plastic assembly.

Pre-heating of the oven follows, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then sealed and installed into the oven.

2. The heating up and fusion process.
Once within the oven, the mold is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and coats the inside if the mold. The rotation is done gradually, about 20 rotations per min. One thing that is vital at this point is the amount of time the mold will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the product will lose value and strength, producing a faulty item. If it is extracted from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have melted correctly, which develops bubbles in the completed product line.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the product has completely spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the material cools, it reduces a little for ease of extraction from the mold. This is one more step that depends upon a lot on the correct timing, since rapid cooling decreases the material too fast, causing warping of the item.

4. The discharging or de-molding step.
When the material inside te mould has cooled properly, the molder managing the process can then take out the finalized item from the mold. The procedure is repeated from the beginning, making a number of exact products.
