The Rotomolding Procedure Components

1. Mold prep work.
A fixed volume of polymer in powder form is filled into a hollow mold. The mold is usually constructed from cast aluminium or sheet steel material. The most commonly used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this style of plastic production.

Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then locked and inserted into the oven.

2. The heating and fusion procedure.
Once placed into the oven, the mould is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mold. The spinning is done slowly, about 20 spins per sixty seconds. Something that is critical at this point is the amount of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the material will lose value and strength, creating a faulty item. If it is taken out from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted correctly, which creates bubbles in the finished product line.

3. Mould cooling.
When the material has sufficiently spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the component cools, it reduces somewhat for ease of removal from the mould. This is an additional measure that depends upon a lot on the right timing, since rapid cooling decreases the material too fast, causing warping of the product.

4. The offloading or de-molding phase.
When the product within te mould has cooled properly, the molder handling the process can then take out the finalized product from the mould. The procedure is repeated from the start, providing a series of exact items.
