1. Mold preparation.

Preheating of the oven follows, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then sealed and installed within the oven.

2. The heating and fusion phase.
Once placed into the oven, the mold is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and coats the inside if the mold. The rotation is done slowly, about 20 spins per min. Something that is important at this point is the amount of time the mould will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the product will lose stability and strength, generating a poor item. If it is taken out from the oven too early, the polymer will not have flowed correctly, which generates bubbles in the finalized product.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the product has completely spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the product cools, it shrinks a little for ease of extraction from the mould. This is an additional measure that relies a lot on the correct timing, since rapid cooling decreases the material too quickly, causing bending of the item.

4. The offloading or de-molding phase.
When the product within te mold has cooled adequately, the molder managing the operation can then extract the completed item from the mold. The procedure is repeated from the beginning, making a series of exact products.
