The Rotomolding Procedure Components

1. Mould readying.
A predetermined quantity of polymer in particle form is filled into a hollow mold. The mold is usually made of cast aluminium or sheet steel component. Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then locked and placed within the oven.

2. The heating up and fusion phase.
Once within the oven, the mold is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mold. The spinning is done slowly, about 20 revolutions per min. One thing that is vital at this moment is the period of time the mold will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the product will lose value and durability, making a faulty item. If it is removed from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have melted properly, which creates bubbles in the completed product.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the product has completely spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the component cools, it shrinks somewhat for ease of removal from the mould. This is an additional measure that depends upon a lot on the ideal timing, since rapid cooling decreases the material too rapidly, causing warping of the material.

4. The un-loading or de-moulding phase.
When the product inside te mold has cooled correctly, the person taking care of the operation can then take out the finished item from the mold. The function is repeated from the start, supplying a series of identical items.
