1. Mold preparation.
A fixed quantity of polymer in powder form is loaded into a hollow mould. The mold is usually made from cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. The color wanted for the end goods is pre compounded into the polymer. The most commonly used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this design of plastic production.

Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then secured and positioned inside the oven.

2. The heat and fusion step.
Once within the oven, the mould is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and coats the inside if the mold. The turning is done slowly, about 20 rotations per minute. Something that is essential at this point is the period of time the mold will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the component will lose stability and durability, producing a poor item. If it is extracted from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have melted properly, which develops bubbles in the finished product.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the product has sufficiently spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the component cools, it shrinks a little for ease of extraction from the mold. This is yet another procedure that depends a lot on the ideal timing, since rapid cooling reduces the material too quickly, causing bending of the material.

4. The removing or de-molding step.
When the product within te mold has cooled properly, the molder taking care of the operation can then take out the finalized product from the mold. The procedure is repeated from the beginning, making a series of identical products.
