1. Mould readying.
A predetermined quantity of polymer in powder form is packed into a hollow mould. The mould is usually constructed from cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. The color tone needed for the finished item is pre compounded into the polymer. The most often used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this type of plastic engineering.

Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then secured and put within the oven.

2. The heat and fusion step.
Once inside the oven, the mould is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and coats the inside if the mould. The rotation is done gradually, about 20 revolutions per minute. The main thing that is critical at this point is the period of time the mold will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the product will lose value and durability, producing a faulty item. If it is extracted from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have flowed correctly, which creates bubbles in the finalized product.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the component has completely spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the material cools, it reduces slightly for ease of extraction from the mold. This is yet another measure that relies a lot on the ideal timing, since quick cooling reduces the material too quick, causing bending of the product.

4. The discharging or de-moulding step.
Once the component within te mould has cooled effectively, the person handling the procedure can then take out the finalized item from the mould. The function is repeated from the beginning, supplying a series of similar products.
