The Rotomoulding Process Components

1. Mould readying.
A fixed volume of polymer in powder form is loaded into a hollow mould. The mould is usually constructed from cast aluminium or sheet steel component. 2. The heating up and fusion step.
Once placed into the oven, the mould is spun on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and layers the inside if the mold. The spinning is done slowly, about 20 spins per minute. The main thing that is crucial at this moment is the period of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it overstays, the product will lose value and strength, creating a weak product. If it is extracted from the oven too early, the polymer will not have flowed properly, which develops bubbles in the completed item.

3. Mould cooling.
When the product has sufficiently spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the product cools, it reduces slightly for ease of extraction from the mould. This is an additional measure that depends a lot on the correct timing, since rapid cooling shrinks the material too quick, causing warping of the material.

4. The un-loading or de-molding step.
As soon as the component within te mould has cooled correctly, the molder managing the procedure can then remove the completed item from the mould. The function is repeated from the beginning, giving a number of identical products.
