The Rotomolding Process Components

This molding procedure has been used since earlier times for creatingvseverl products. Egyptians for instance, applied rotomoulding methods in the making of ceramics. 1. Mold readying.
A fixed measure of polymer in powder form is loaded into a hollow mold. The mould is usually composeded of cast aluminium or sheet steel material. The most generally used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this type of plastic production.

Preheating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then locked and put within the oven.

2. The heat and fusion phase.
Once within the oven, the mold is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and coats the inside if the mold. The turning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 spins per min. One thing that is important at this moment is the period of time the mold will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the component will lose value and durability, generating a poor item. If it is extracted from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted correctly, which generates bubbles in the completed product line.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the product has completely spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the product cools, it shrinks a little for ease of extraction from the mould. This is an additional measure that depends upon a lot on the ideal timing, since quick cooling reduces the material too rapidly, causing warping of the material.

4. The removing or de-moulding step.
As soon as the product inside te mould has cooled adequately, the person handling the process can then take out the finished item from the mould. The process is repeated from the start, supplying a number of exact items.
