1. Mould prep work.
A fixed amount of polymer in particle form is packed into a hollow mould. The mould is usually composeded of cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. The most commonly used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this format of plastic engineering.

Preheating of the oven starts, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then sealed and positioned within the oven.

2. The heating and fusion procedure.
Once inside the oven, the mold is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and overlays the inside if the mold. The turning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 rotations per sixty seconds. Something that is important at this moment is the amount of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the material will lose stability and durability, making a weak item. If it is removed from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted correctly, which develops bubbles in the finished item.

3. Mould cooling.
When the product has sufficiently spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the product cools, it shrinks somewhat for ease of removal from the mold. This is another step that relies a lot on the right timing, since quick cooling shrinks the material too quickly, causing bending of the material.

4. The removing or de-moulding phase.
As soon as the component inside te mould has cooled correctly, the person handling the procedure can then take out the finished item from the mould. The technique is repeated from the start, giving a number of exact products.
