1. Mold prep work.
A predetermined volume of polymer in particle form is packed into a hollow mold. The mold is usually comprised of cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. 2. The heating up and fusion step.
Once inside the oven, the mould is spun on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and coats the inside if the mold. The rotation is done slowly and gradually, about 20 rotations per minute. The main thing that is critical at this point is the period of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the material will lose value and durability, creating a weak item. If it is extracted from the oven too early, the polymer will not have flowed correctly, which creates bubbles in the completed product line.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the component has sufficiently spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the component cools, it reduces slightly for ease of extraction from the mould. This is one more procedure that depends a lot on the correct timing, since quick cooling decreases the material too quickly, causing bending of the product.

4. The un-loading or de-moulding step.
Once the component within te mold has cooled adequately, the molder taking care of the process can then extract the finalized item from the mould. The technique is repeated from the start, giving a series of identical items.
