1. Mould prep work.
A fixed amount of polymer in grain form is loaded into a hollow mould. The mold is usually made of cast aluminium or sheet steel component. The most often used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this format of plastic assembly.

Preheating of the oven starts, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then secured and installed inside the oven.

2. The heating up and fusion procedure.
Once placed into the oven, the mold is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mould. The turning is done slowly, about 20 spins per sixty seconds. Something that is important at this moment is the period of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the component will lose stability and durability, producing a weak item. If it is extracted from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted correctly, which generates bubbles in the completed item.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the material has completely spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the material cools, it reduces slightly for ease of removal from the mould. This is yet another measure that relies a lot on the correct timing, since quick cooling reduces the material too quickly, causing warping of the item.

4. The removing or de-moulding step.
As soon as the product inside te mold has cooled correctly, the molder taking care of the procedure can then extract the finished item from the mold. The procedure is repeated from the start, providing a series of exact items.
