1. Mold readying.
A predetermined amount of polymer in grain form is loaded into a hollow mold. The mold is usually constructed from cast aluminium or sheet steel material. The most commonly used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this design of plastic assembly.

Pre-heating of the oven follows, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then sealed and put inside the oven.

2. The heating up and fusion step.
Once inside the oven, the mould is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mould. The turning is done slowly, about 20 revolutions per min. The main thing that is critical at this moment is the amount of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it overstays, the component will lose value and durability, making a poor product. If it is removed from the oven too early, the polymer will not have liquefied properly, which generates bubbles in the finalized product line.

3. Mould cooling.
When the component has completely spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the component cools, it shrinks somewhat for ease of extraction from the mould. This is yet another measure that relies a lot on the correct timing, since quick cooling decreases the material too quickly, causing warping of the product.

4. The offloading or de-molding step.
Once the product within te mould has cooled effectively, the molder managing the procedure can then remove the finalized item from the mould. The process is repeated from the start, providing a number of identical products.
