1. Mould fitting.
A fixed amount of polymer in particle form is filled into a hollow mold. The mold is usually crafted from cast aluminium or sheet steel material. The color tone wanted for the final item is pre compounded into the polymer. The most commonly used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this style of plastic production.

Preheating of the oven follows, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then sealed and placed inside the oven.

2. The heating up and fusion phase.
Once placed into the oven, the mould is spun on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and coats the inside if the mold. The turning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 revolutions per min. The main thing that is essential at this point is the period of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the product will lose stability and durability, producing a poor product. If it is taken out from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have melted correctly, which develops bubbles in the finished item.

3. Mold cooling.
When the component has sufficiently spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the material cools, it reduces a little for ease of removal from the mold. This is another measure that depends upon a lot on the right timing, since quick cooling reduces the material too quick, causing warping of the product.

4. The removing or de-moulding phase.
Once the product within te mould has cooled successfully, the molder taking care of the operation can then extract the completed product from the mould. The technique is repeated from the start, giving a number of identical items.
