1. Mold preparation.
A predetermined measure of polymer in grain form is loaded into a hollow mold. The mould is usually made from cast aluminium or sheet steel material. The most generally used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this design of plastic assembly.

Preheating of the oven starts, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then secured and installed inside the oven.

2. The heating up and fusion procedure.
Once within the oven, the mold is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and overlays the inside if the mold. The spinning is done gradually, about 20 rotations per minute. The main thing that is critical at this point is the amount of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the material will lose stability and durability, making a weak product. If it is taken out from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have flowed properly, which produces bubbles in the completed product.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the component has sufficiently spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the component cools, it shrinks somewhat for ease of removal from the mold. This is another measure that relies a lot on the correct timing, since rapid cooling shrinks the material too rapidly, causing warping of the product.

4. The offloading or de-molding step.
When the product within te mold has cooled successfully, the person taking care of the operation can then extract the completed product from the mold. The function is repeated from the beginning, providing a number of identical products.
