1. Mould preparation.
A predetermined measure of polymer in powder form is loaded into a hollow mould. The mold is usually comprised of cast aluminium or sheet steel material. The most typically used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this type of plastic assembly.

Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then locked and positioned within the oven.

2. The heat and fusion process.
Once within the oven, the mold is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and layers the inside if the mould. The rotation is done gradually, about 20 revolutions per minute. One thing that is crucial at this point is the amount of time the mold will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the component will lose stability and strength, creating a weak product. If it is removed from the oven too early, the polymer will not have flowed properly, which produces bubbles in the finalized product line.

3. Mold cooling.
When the product has completely spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the material cools, it shrinks somewhat for ease of extraction from the mold. This is another step that relies a lot on the correct timing, since quick cooling decreases the material too quickly, causing warping of the material.

4. The offloading or de-molding step.
Once the component inside te mould has cooled effectively, the molder taking care of the procedure can then take out the finished item from the mold. The process is repeated from the beginning, supplying a series of exact product lines.
