1. Mold prep work.
A predetermined amount of polymer in grain form is filled into a hollow mold. The mould is usually made of cast aluminium or sheet steel component. The coloration preferred for the end product is pre compounded into the polymer. The most generally used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this format of plastic production.

Pre-heating of the oven follows, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then locked and placed inside the oven.

2. The heating up and fusion process.
Once placed into the oven, the mold is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mold. The turning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 rotations per minute. Something that is critical at this moment is the amount of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the component will lose value and strength, producing a weak item. If it is taken out from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have liquefied properly, which creates bubbles in the finalized product line.

3. Mold cooling.
When the product has completely spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the component cools, it reduces somewhat for ease of extraction from the mold. This is one more step that relies a lot on the ideal timing, since rapid cooling shrinks the material too quickly, causing warping of the material.

4. The un-loading or de-molding step.
Once the material within te mold has cooled adequately, the molder taking care of the operation can then take out the finished product from the mould. The function is repeated from the start, supplying a number of similar product lines.
