The Rotomoulding Procedure Components

1. Mold readying.
A fixed amount of polymer in powder form is loaded into a hollow mould. The mold is usually crafted from cast aluminium or sheet steel component. The most typically used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this type of plastic manufacturing.

Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then secured and inserted into the oven.

2. The heat and fusion phase.
Once placed into the oven, the mould is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mould. The rotation is done slowly and gradually, about 20 revolutions per min. One thing that is vital at this moment is the period of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the material will lose stability and strength, creating a faulty item. If it is removed from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have melted properly, which creates bubbles in the finished item.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the product has completely spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the material cools, it reduces slightly for ease of removal from the mold. This is yet another measure that depends upon a lot on the correct timing, since quick cooling decreases the material too quickly, causing bending of the material.

4. The unloading or de-molding phase.
When the material inside te mould has cooled effectively, the person handling the process can then remove the completed item from the mould. The procedure is repeated from the beginning, making a number of similar items.
