1. Mold prep work.
A predetermined volume of polymer in powder form is filled into a hollow mould. The mold is usually built from cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. The coloring preferred for the final product is pre compounded into the polymer. The most often used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this style of plastic assembly.

Pre-heating of the oven follows, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then locked and positioned into the oven.

2. The heating and fusion step.
Once inside the oven, the mould is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and overlays the inside if the mold. The rotation is done slowly and gradually, about 20 revolutions per minute. One thing that is vital at this point is the period of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the component will lose stability and strength, making a poor item. If it is removed from the oven too early, the polymer will not have flowed correctly, which creates bubbles in the completed product.

3. Mold cooling.
When the component has sufficiently spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the material cools, it reduces somewhat for ease of extraction from the mold. This is yet another procedure that depends upon a lot on the right timing, since rapid cooling decreases the material too quick, causing warping of the item.

4. The removing or de-molding phase.
When the component inside te mold has cooled properly, the person taking care of the procedure can then take out the finalized item from the mould. The process is repeated from the beginning, supplying a series of identical items.
