1. Mold fitting.
A fixed amount of polymer in powder form is loaded into a hollow mold. The mold is usually built from cast aluminium or sheet steel component. The color chosen for the end item is pre compounded into the polymer. The most often used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this design of plastic production.

Preheating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then locked and put within the oven.

2. The heating and fusion process.
Once within the oven, the mould is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and overlays the inside if the mould. The turning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 rotations per minute. The main thing that is crucial at this point is the period of time the mold will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the product will lose value and strength, making a poor product. If it is extracted from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have flowed correctly, which creates bubbles in the finished product.

3. Mold cooling.
When the material has completely spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the material cools, it shrinks a little for ease of removal from the mould. This is one more step that relies a lot on the correct timing, since quick cooling reduces the material too rapidly, causing warping of the material.

4. The removing or de-moulding step.
Once the product within te mould has cooled correctly, the molder taking care of the procedure can then extract the completed product from the mould. The procedure is repeated from the beginning, giving a number of similar products.
