1. Mold readying.
A predetermined amount of polymer in grain form is filled into a hollow mould. The mould is usually composeded of cast aluminium or sheet steel component. The most often used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this style of plastic production.

Preheating of the oven follows, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then secured and inserted inside the oven.

2. The heating and fusion step.
Once within the oven, the mold is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and overlays the inside if the mould. The spinning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 revolutions per minute. One thing that is essential at this point is the amount of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the component will lose stability and durability, making a weak product. If it is taken out from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have liquefied properly, which generates bubbles in the finalized product line.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the material has completely spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the material cools, it reduces somewhat for ease of extraction from the mould. This is an additional step that depends upon a lot on the right timing, since rapid cooling reduces the material too quickly, causing warping of the product.

4. The unloading or de-moulding step.
When the component within te mould has cooled adequately, the molder handling the operation can then extract the completed product from the mould. The function is repeated from the start, supplying a series of identical product lines.
