The Rotomolding Method Components

1. Mould preparation.
A predetermined quantity of polymer in powder form is filled into a hollow mould. The mould is usually comprised of cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. The colour preferred for the finished item is pre compounded into the polymer. The most typically used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this style of plastic assembly.

Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then secured and placed inside the oven.

2. The heating and fusion step.
Once within the oven, the mold is spun on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and overlays the inside if the mold. The rotation is done slowly, about 20 revolutions per minute. The main thing that is vital at this moment is the amount of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it overstays, the material will lose stability and durability, creating a poor item. If it is taken out from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have liquefied correctly, which creates bubbles in the finished product.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the component has sufficiently spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the component cools, it reduces a little for ease of extraction from the mould. This is an additional step that depends a lot on the ideal timing, since quick cooling decreases the material too quick, causing bending of the material.

4. The unloading or de-molding step.
When the component inside te mould has cooled correctly, the molder managing the process can then extract the finished item from the mould. The technique is repeated from the start, giving a series of exact items.
