The Rotomolding Process Components

1. Mould fitting.

2. The heat and fusion step.
Once placed into the oven, the mold is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mold. The spinning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 spins per minute. The main thing that is vital at this moment is the amount of time the mould will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the component will lose value and strength, making a weak product. If it is extracted from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have liquefied correctly, which generates bubbles in the finished item.

3. Mould cooling.
When the material has completely spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the component cools, it shrinks somewhat for ease of extraction from the mould. This is another step that depends a lot on the ideal timing, since quick cooling decreases the material too rapidly, causing bending of the material.

4. The discharging or de-molding step.
When the material within te mold has cooled successfully, the molder managing the procedure can then remove the completed product from the mold. The function is repeated from the beginning, giving a series of exact product lines.
