The Rotomolding Procedure Components

1. Mould readying.
A predetermined amount of polymer in grain form is filled into a hollow mold. The mould is usually composeded of cast aluminium or sheet steel material. The color needed for the final product is pre compounded into the polymer. The most often used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this type of plastic engineering.

Preheating of the oven follows, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then secured and installed inside the oven.

2. The heating and fusion step.
Once inside the oven, the mold is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mould. The spinning is done slowly, about 20 rotations per minute. Something that is crucial at this moment is the period of time the mold will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the component will lose stability and strength, creating a faulty item. If it is taken out from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted correctly, which develops bubbles in the finalized item.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the product has sufficiently spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the component cools, it reduces somewhat for ease of removal from the mold. This is yet another step that relies a lot on the right timing, since quick cooling decreases the material too fast, causing warping of the material.

4. The removing or de-molding step.
Once the material inside te mould has cooled successfully, the person taking care of the process can then take out the finalized product from the mold. The procedure is repeated from the start, giving a series of similar product lines.
