The Rotomoulding Method Components

1. Mould preparation.
A fixed amount of polymer in powder form is loaded into a hollow mold. The mould is usually comprised of cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. The coloring needed for the end item is pre compounded into the polymer. The most commonly used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this type of plastic production.

Pre-heating of the oven follows, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then secured and inserted inside the oven.

2. The heating and fusion procedure.
Once inside the oven, the mold is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and coats the inside if the mould. The spinning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 spins per sixty seconds. Something that is vital at this point is the amount of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the component will lose stability and durability, creating a weak item. If it is taken out from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have melted properly, which develops bubbles in the completed product line.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the component has sufficiently spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the material cools, it shrinks somewhat for ease of extraction from the mold. This is an additional measure that relies a lot on the correct timing, since rapid cooling decreases the material too rapidly, causing bending of the item.

4. The unloading or de-moulding step.
As soon as the component inside te mould has cooled adequately, the person taking care of the procedure can then remove the finished item from the mold. The procedure is repeated from the start, providing a number of identical items.
