1. Mold preparation.
A predetermined quantity of polymer in grain form is packed into a hollow mold. The mould is usually comprised of cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. The colour wanted for the end item is pre compounded into the polymer. The most typically used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this type of plastic engineering.

Pre-heating of the oven follows, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then sealed and put within the oven.

2. The heating up and fusion process.
Once within the oven, the mold is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and coats the inside if the mold. The turning is done slowly, about 20 spins per minute. One thing that is crucial at this point is the amount of time the mold will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the product will lose value and durability, making a weak product. If it is removed from the oven too early, the polymer will not have liquefied properly, which produces bubbles in the completed product.

3. Mould cooling.
When the component has sufficiently spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the material cools, it reduces somewhat for ease of removal from the mold. This is one more procedure that depends a lot on the ideal timing, since rapid cooling decreases the material too fast, causing warping of the item.

4. The unloading or de-molding step.
As soon as the material within te mold has cooled effectively, the person taking care of the procedure can then take out the finished product from the mold. The procedure is repeated from the start, giving a number of identical items.
