The Rotomoulding Procedure Components

1. Mould prep work.
A predetermined amount of polymer in grain form is loaded into a hollow mould. The mould is usually composeded of cast aluminium or sheet steel component. The most generally used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this format of plastic assembly.

Preheating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then locked and installed within the oven.

2. The heating up and fusion phase.
Once inside the oven, the mold is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and coats the inside if the mold. The turning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 rotations per sixty seconds. The main thing that is important at this point is the amount of time the mold will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the product will lose value and durability, generating a faulty item. If it is taken out from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted correctly, which generates bubbles in the finalized item.

3. Mould cooling.
When the material has completely spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the component cools, it shrinks slightly for ease of extraction from the mould. This is one more measure that depends upon a lot on the correct timing, since rapid cooling decreases the material too quickly, causing bending of the product.

4. The un-loading or de-moulding phase.
Once the product within te mold has cooled adequately, the person handling the process can then remove the completed product from the mold. The technique is repeated from the start, giving a series of similar products.
