The Rotomolding Method Components

This molding system has been used since early times for creatingvseverl products. Egyptians for instance, used rotomoulding systems in the creating of ceramics. 1. Mould fitting.
A fixed quantity of polymer in grain form is loaded into a hollow mold. The mold is usually composeded of cast aluminium or sheet steel component. The color desired for the final goods is pre compounded into the polymer. The most often used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this style of plastic production.

Pre-heating of the oven follows, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then secured and installed into the oven.

2. The heating up and fusion procedure.
Once inside the oven, the mold is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and layers the inside if the mould. The rotation is done slowly and gradually, about 20 spins per min. Something that is vital at this moment is the amount of time the mold will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the component will lose stability and strength, producing a poor product. If it is taken out from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted properly, which generates bubbles in the finalized product line.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the component has completely spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the product cools, it shrinks somewhat for ease of removal from the mould. This is yet another procedure that depends upon a lot on the ideal timing, since rapid cooling decreases the material too quick, causing warping of the material.

4. The discharging or de-moulding step.
As soon as the product inside te mould has cooled correctly, the molder taking care of the operation can then remove the finalized product from the mould. The technique is repeated from the start, giving a number of identical products.
