1. Mold preparation.
A predetermined quantity of polymer in powder form is filled into a hollow mold. The mould is usually crafted from cast aluminium or sheet steel component. The colour wanted for the end goods is pre compounded into the polymer. The most commonly used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this style of plastic assembly.

Pre-heating of the oven follows, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then sealed and inserted within the oven.

2. The heat and fusion step.
Once inside the oven, the mold is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and coats the inside if the mold. The spinning is done gradually, about 20 revolutions per min. One thing that is important at this point is the period of time the mold will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the component will lose value and durability, making a weak product. If it is taken out from the oven too early, the polymer will not have flowed properly, which produces bubbles in the finished item.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the material has completely spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the component cools, it reduces a little for ease of removal from the mould. This is another measure that relies a lot on the correct timing, since quick cooling reduces the material too quickly, causing bending of the material.

4. The removing or de-molding phase.
When the material inside te mould has cooled successfully, the person managing the procedure can then extract the finished product from the mold. The function is repeated from the start, giving a series of similar products.
