1. Mould preparation.
A fixed quantity of polymer in powder form is packed into a hollow mold. The mold is usually made of cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. Pre-heating of the oven follows, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then locked and positioned into the oven.

2. The heating and fusion step.
Once within the oven, the mold is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and coats the inside if the mold. The rotation is done slowly, about 20 revolutions per minute. The main thing that is crucial at this moment is the period of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the component will lose value and durability, producing a faulty item. If it is taken out from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have melted properly, which produces bubbles in the finished item.

3. Mold cooling.
When the product has sufficiently spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the component cools, it shrinks a little for ease of extraction from the mould. This is one more procedure that depends upon a lot on the right timing, since rapid cooling decreases the material too fast, causing warping of the item.

4. The un-loading or de-moulding step.
Once the product inside te mold has cooled adequately, the molder taking care of the procedure can then take out the completed item from the mould. The procedure is repeated from the start, giving a series of exact products.
