The Rotomoulding Procedure Components

1. Mould preparation.
A predetermined volume of polymer in grain form is loaded into a hollow mould. The mold is usually made of cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. The most often used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this type of plastic manufacturing.

Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then sealed and installed into the oven.

2. The heating and fusion step.
Once inside the oven, the mould is spun on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and coats the inside if the mold. The turning is done slowly, about 20 rotations per minute. Something that is vital at this moment is the period of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the component will lose stability and strength, creating a weak item. If it is extracted from the oven too early, the polymer will not have flowed correctly, which produces bubbles in the completed product line.

3. Mold cooling.
When the product has completely spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the product cools, it reduces somewhat for ease of extraction from the mold. This is an additional procedure that depends a lot on the ideal timing, since rapid cooling reduces the material too quick, causing bending of the product.

4. The removing or de-molding step.
When the product within te mold has cooled properly, the molder taking care of the operation can then take out the completed product from the mould. The technique is repeated from the beginning, giving a number of identical items.
