The Rotomolding Process Components

This moulding process has been used since early times for creatingvseverl products. Egyptians as an example, used rotomoulding solutions in the manufacturing of ceramics. 1. Mould prep work.
A fixed volume of polymer in particle form is packed into a hollow mold. The mould is usually made of cast aluminium or sheet steel component. The colour wanted for the finished goods is pre compounded into the polymer. The most generally used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this design of plastic assembly.

Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then sealed and put within the oven.

2. The heat and fusion procedure.
Once placed into the oven, the mould is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and overlays the inside if the mould. The spinning is done slowly, about 20 spins per minute. Something that is crucial at this moment is the period of time the mould will spend within the oven. If it overstays, the component will lose value and strength, producing a weak product. If it is removed from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have flowed correctly, which generates bubbles in the finalized item.

3. Mould cooling.
When the material has completely spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the material cools, it shrinks somewhat for ease of removal from the mold. This is yet another step that depends upon a lot on the right timing, since quick cooling decreases the material too fast, causing bending of the product.

4. The offloading or de-molding phase.
Once the material inside te mold has cooled effectively, the person taking care of the process can then remove the finished product from the mold. The function is repeated from the start, making a number of similar items.
