The Rotomoulding Procedure Components

1. Mold prep work.
A predetermined measure of polymer in powder form is loaded into a hollow mold. The mold is usually comprised of cast aluminium or sheet steel material. The most generally used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this design of plastic engineering.

Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then secured and inserted into the oven.

2. The heat and fusion step.
Once inside the oven, the mould is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and overlays the inside if the mould. The turning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 rotations per minute. One thing that is vital at this moment is the amount of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the component will lose value and strength, generating a poor product. If it is removed from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have flowed correctly, which creates bubbles in the finished item.

3. Mold cooling.
When the component has completely spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the component cools, it shrinks somewhat for ease of extraction from the mold. This is another measure that relies a lot on the ideal timing, since quick cooling decreases the material too rapidly, causing warping of the material.

4. The unloading or de-moulding phase.
As soon as the component inside te mold has cooled correctly, the molder handling the procedure can then extract the completed product from the mold. The function is repeated from the beginning, supplying a series of exact products.
