The Rotomolding Procedure Components

1. Mold preparation.
A predetermined volume of polymer in grain form is loaded into a hollow mold. The mold is usually made from cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. The colour needed for the end goods is pre compounded into the polymer. The most generally used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this format of plastic manufacturing.

Preheating of the oven follows, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then sealed and placed within the oven.

2. The heating and fusion procedure.
Once within the oven, the mould is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and coats the inside if the mold. The turning is done gradually, about 20 revolutions per sixty seconds. Something that is essential at this moment is the amount of time the mould will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the product will lose value and durability, generating a poor product. If it is removed from the oven too early, the polymer will not have flowed properly, which creates bubbles in the completed item.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the material has completely spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the product cools, it reduces a little for ease of extraction from the mold. This is one more procedure that depends a lot on the ideal timing, since quick cooling decreases the material too rapidly, causing warping of the material.

4. The un-loading or de-molding step.
Once the component within te mould has cooled correctly, the molder managing the operation can then extract the finished product from the mould. The procedure is repeated from the start, making a number of identical product lines.
