The Rotomoulding Process in Detail

1. Mold prep work.
A fixed quantity of polymer in powder form is filled into a hollow mold. The mold is usually built from cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. 2. The heat and fusion step.
Once inside the oven, the mould is spun on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and layers the inside if the mould. The turning is done gradually, about 20 revolutions per sixty seconds. Something that is essential at this moment is the period of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the product will lose stability and durability, making a weak product. If it is taken out from the oven too early, the polymer will not have flowed properly, which develops bubbles in the finished item.

3. Mould cooling.
When the component has completely spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the component cools, it reduces slightly for ease of extraction from the mold. This is another measure that depends a lot on the right timing, since quick cooling decreases the material too fast, causing warping of the material.

4. The discharging or de-moulding step.
As soon as the component inside te mould has cooled effectively, the molder managing the operation can then take out the finished product from the mould. The procedure is repeated from the start, giving a number of similar items.
