1. Mold preparation.
A predetermined volume of polymer in powder form is packed into a hollow mold. The mold is usually comprised of cast aluminium or sheet steel material. The most commonly used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this type of plastic manufacturing.

Preheating of the oven starts, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then locked and placed within the oven.

2. The heating up and fusion procedure.
Once placed into the oven, the mould is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and coats the inside if the mold. The spinning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 spins per min. The main thing that is essential at this moment is the period of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it overstays, the material will lose value and strength, generating a weak item. If it is taken out from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted correctly, which generates bubbles in the finished item.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the material has sufficiently spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the product cools, it shrinks somewhat for ease of extraction from the mould. This is yet another step that depends upon a lot on the ideal timing, since quick cooling shrinks the material too fast, causing bending of the material.

4. The discharging or de-molding phase.
When the material inside te mold has cooled successfully, the molder taking care of the procedure can then take out the finalized product from the mould. The technique is repeated from the start, providing a series of exact items.
