The Rotomoulding Procedure Components

1. Mould fitting.
A predetermined measure of polymer in powder form is loaded into a hollow mould. The mould is usually made of cast aluminium or sheet steel component. The color wanted for the final goods is pre compounded into the polymer. The most typically used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this format of plastic assembly.

Preheating of the oven follows, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then secured and positioned within the oven.

2. The heating up and fusion phase.
Once inside the oven, the mold is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and overlays the inside if the mould. The turning is done gradually, about 20 spins per min. The main thing that is critical at this point is the amount of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the product will lose value and durability, creating a faulty item. If it is extracted from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have liquefied correctly, which creates bubbles in the finished product line.

3. Mould cooling.
When the product has sufficiently spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the product cools, it reduces slightly for ease of removal from the mold. This is another procedure that depends a lot on the right timing, since quick cooling reduces the material too quick, causing warping of the item.

4. The offloading or de-moulding phase.
As soon as the product inside te mould has cooled effectively, the molder taking care of the operation can then take out the completed item from the mould. The process is repeated from the beginning, supplying a series of similar products.
