1. Mould prep work.
A predetermined amount of polymer in powder form is filled into a hollow mold. The mold is usually composeded of cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. The color tone chosen for the final item is pre compounded into the polymer. The most often used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this type of plastic assembly.

Preheating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then locked and placed within the oven.

2. The heat and fusion phase.
Once within the oven, the mold is spun on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and coats the inside if the mold. The rotation is done gradually, about 20 revolutions per sixty seconds. The main thing that is vital at this point is the amount of time the mold will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the material will lose value and strength, creating a weak item. If it is taken out from the oven too early, the polymer will not have liquefied correctly, which creates bubbles in the finished item.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the material has sufficiently spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the component cools, it reduces a little for ease of removal from the mould. This is yet another procedure that relies a lot on the correct timing, since quick cooling reduces the material too fast, causing warping of the material.

4. The unloading or de-moulding phase.
When the component within te mold has cooled successfully, the person taking care of the procedure can then take out the finalized product from the mold. The process is repeated from the start, making a number of identical products.
