1. Mold fitting.
A fixed amount of polymer in powder form is loaded into a hollow mold. The mould is usually made of cast aluminium or sheet steel material. The colour chosen for the finished goods is pre compounded into the polymer. The most typically used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this format of plastic engineering.

Preheating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then sealed and inserted inside the oven.

2. The heating and fusion step.
Once within the oven, the mould is rotated on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and coats the inside if the mould. The spinning is done gradually, about 20 revolutions per sixty seconds. One thing that is critical at this point is the amount of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the product will lose value and durability, producing a faulty product. If it is removed from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have melted properly, which develops bubbles in the completed product.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the material has completely spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the component cools, it shrinks slightly for ease of extraction from the mold. This is yet another measure that depends upon a lot on the right timing, since quick cooling reduces the material too fast, causing warping of the item.

4. The discharging or de-moulding phase.
As soon as the material inside te mold has cooled adequately, the molder taking care of the procedure can then remove the finished item from the mould. The procedure is repeated from the start, giving a series of identical items.
