The Rotomoulding Procedure Components

1. Mold fitting.
A fixed volume of polymer in powder form is packed into a hollow mould. The mould is usually made from cast aluminium or sheet steel material. 2. The heat and fusion phase.
Once placed into the oven, the mould is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and coats the inside if the mold. The turning is done slowly, about 20 revolutions per min. The main thing that is vital at this point is the period of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the material will lose stability and durability, creating a weak product. If it is removed from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted correctly, which develops bubbles in the completed item.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the product has completely spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the material cools, it reduces slightly for ease of removal from the mould. This is another step that depends upon a lot on the correct timing, since rapid cooling reduces the material too quick, causing bending of the product.

4. The discharging or de-moulding step.
Once the component inside te mold has cooled successfully, the person handling the operation can then take out the finished product from the mould. The process is repeated from the beginning, providing a number of identical products.
