The Rotomoulding Method Components

1. Mold prep work.
A fixed measure of polymer in particle form is packed into a hollow mould. The mold is usually made of cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. The most generally used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this design of plastic production.

Preheating of the oven follows, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then sealed and placed within the oven.

2. The heat and fusion process.
Once inside the oven, the mould is revolved on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and overlays the inside if the mold. The spinning is done slowly, about 20 rotations per sixty seconds. The main thing that is crucial at this point is the amount of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the material will lose stability and strength, generating a weak item. If it is taken out from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted correctly, which generates bubbles in the finalized product line.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the product has sufficiently spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the component cools, it reduces slightly for ease of removal from the mould. This is one more procedure that depends a lot on the correct timing, since rapid cooling shrinks the material too fast, causing bending of the item.

4. The unloading or de-molding step.
As soon as the product inside te mould has cooled adequately, the person taking care of the operation can then remove the finalized product from the mould. The function is repeated from the start, making a series of identical items.
