1. Mould prep work.

Preheating of the oven starts, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then locked and put inside the oven.

2. The heating and fusion phase.
Once inside the oven, the mold is spun on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and overlays the inside if the mould. The rotation is done slowly, about 20 rotations per min. The main thing that is crucial at this moment is the amount of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the material will lose stability and durability, generating a poor item. If it is extracted from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have liquefied properly, which produces bubbles in the finalized item.

3. Mold cooling.
When the component has completely spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the component cools, it shrinks somewhat for ease of extraction from the mold. This is one more step that depends a lot on the right timing, since quick cooling reduces the material too quick, causing warping of the product.

4. The un-loading or de-molding step.
Once the component within te mold has cooled successfully, the person taking care of the operation can then extract the completed item from the mould. The technique is repeated from the beginning, making a series of identical products.
